ok... fist of all, don't start with variables. start with hello world...

*digs out memory of C basics

#include "stdio.h"

void Main()
{
Printf("Hello World");
}

geh... something like that. That's all I know in C but I have a basic understanding of C++ and experience in BASIC =P

The C++ version of that.

#include <iostream.h>
void main()
{
cout<<"Hello World/n";
}

I think that maybe you should include a GNU C dounload instead of the Workbench

I am starting with variable because there are different type. Its been a while, but i dont think basic has different types of variables.
I have tried several different programs and Miracle C seems to be the easiest way to make an executeable. If you find a good GNU C compiler let me know and ill take a look at it.
So far it is almost 6000 words and 18 pages. But dont worry, there are several pictures and illustrations that take up alot of room.
Once the manual goes through proof reading and edited, i will post a link to savefile.com The file will include the manual, a few examples, and the installer for Miracle C.

How much does every one know about the xml format for soda models. If most people dont now alot about it I can make another pdf to include with everything, that goes over the xml format. Or if there is a good site online, please let me know and i will direct people to that link in the pdf.

I have used savefile.com in the past and it works fine for me. I look at that one though. I have used Bloodshed, but for what we are doing, it is WAY too complex. I am not saying never use it, or that it is not good, just that i would not recomend it to beginners.

Well, C isn't generally the recommended program language for beginners anyway.

harishman, you sohuld learn some even simpler languages before learning C. I suggest QuickBASIC. Like its name states, it's basic and easy to learn.

That link actually goes ot a site for QBasic. I couldn't find any sites for QuickBasic. QBasic's fairly easy, too.
