Cross the Gaps!   posted: 22-Nov-06 00:24   »»
The title says it all. Cross the gaps! If you fall off and hit the floor far beneath, you automatically lose.

No fliers or other cheap tricks, but other than that, just about any variant of model is permitted.

I first thought it would be hard to finish the race properly but it was easier as i thought.
Nice race by the way.

Let's hope that this one survives the Glitch...
By the way, did you steal my amoeba? That one looks awfully similar...

I did'nt steal your amoeba but the chances are big that the amoeba is the same though. Zip spring amoeba's with the same number of points always look/are the same. The programming makes a difference though.

With some tuning, I got my racing amoeba over the gorges. Bwahaha!

My "jumping" amoeba (tuned race amoeba) was my first choise for this race. After some tuning it does roll over all the lines instead of jumping over the whole map.

That's kind of a flier, as it starts off going upwards. Additionally, it looks like it might be set to "slippery". Please upload the model!

Yeah, it does start with going upward so i thought it could be a "cheap trick" you mentioned earlier.
Now i just tuned my race amoeba and it makes it very easy. I had to shrink the model alot because i thought it would be a giant but now it looks like the same size. This model does roll over all the lines without "flying". My last model was not set to slippery by the way ^^.

It was pretty hard to beat that, but I did it anyway. :-)

If you beat this i have to search for other settings for my amoeba. I think this settings can't make it go faster as this. Nice race by the way ^^.

This is the hardest race I have had for a long while...
I can get it down to 109 frames, but not 104.

I guess you win! Nice race, indeed.

I might try more tuning later, but I think that 109 is the max speed on my amoeba, on this terrain... on level courses I got it down to 89, but those attempts get stuck on the first 'jump' due to high gravity.

Here is my last attempt...it's not quite fast enough, waaa.

No... he doesn't win. I have a faster zip amobea than you!
YEEEEEEESSSSS! I FINALLY HAVE A FASTER ZIP AMOEBA THAN EDLINFAN!

Finally I solved the puzzle of the zip amoeba. Normally when I create a new amoeba, I rip someone else's xml code from a posted race, import it, look at the settings real hard for inspiration, go create my own just like it, then adapt that one. That wasn't working for zip amoebas, something was lost in the XML code and so the imported one didn't work, thus my similar ones didn't work, being based on the same thing. So I had to create this by hand.
It paid off. Big time.

By the way, I highly reccomend the XML observing technique. Try it! Just don't use the actual one you import; that would be stealing, although it is much quicker. When I do it my amoebas are a slightly different size, therefore you can tell it isn't stealing.

I got the same dang error as all the other ones!
I would think it was my amoeba that had the problem because I've seen that before, but in one of these it's a different amoeba than the rest. Maybe I'm over the speed limit... that would be bad. Or good?

This'll make the other one work too.
