I didn't know where to put these two motors (if they will work as motors?) Here they are...please tell me if they are defective motors or anything, Thanks!

I found it in some persons pub, but I can't remember who it was.
I just want to know who did it, because I think it's a great model.
Have you got my point now?
/axilux

ps. don't you think it's lonely in the forum too?

juggaman made an antigrav, but it's not a walker. check out his pub. I don't think it's lonely...

thanks, it's all fixed now. I should practice my proofbuilding skills. i think i might have had to go in the middle of building, then got back and thought i had finished it. I don't know what happened with the muscle. Thanks again.

I changes this message to the Help Thread
I was working on the basic amoeba. I must have had a lucky spell, because I made one that works. Unfortunately, my luck ran out the very next day. I thought I had made another amoeba, but now it seems as if the second one doesn't work. I have tried several times, but can't get one to work like my first one. In this model enclosed, there's two amoebas. It becomes obvious which one works and which one doesn't. Will anyone help me as to what is wrong with the second one and how i can correct this?

luxetvox:

to create an amoeba, you first need to make a ring of springs that are equal distances apart: aka an octagon, or whatever, depending on how many points you want. then, join the pairs of OPPOSITE POINTS. this seems to be your main problem: look at your model without the muscles moving, and you will see that the opposite points aren't all joined and you have muscles between some that aren't opposites.

also, make sure that your muscles are in order around the amoeba on the sine wave. there should be half as many muscles as there are points in the amoeba. they should be evenly spaced on the wave.

most importantly, USE A GRID OR GUIDELINE. it is really important that all of the lines that are supposed to be the same length, are.

post again if you need any more help. *_*

I don't really need help with my model, I just wanted to see what people think about it.
http://sodaplay.com/constructor/player.htm?&getmodel=spartan+variation_of_warps_orbit
One day while looking in the zoo I saw warptera's Orbit and became inspired. Instead of using counter-rotary (at least I think they are counter-rotary) motors, I used a turbine. I also connected two smaller octagons to form a "moon" in which one small octagon orbits around another small one (slowy but surely the "moon" orbits). Enjoy.

Luxetvox,

Hippo's advice is exactly right. If you make gravity and wave amplitude zero, then the best amoebas will form perfect circles. When they do this you know you have done the best job possible. In this fashion you know that the amoeba will deform evenly when it rolls.

spartan,

I like it alot. Turbines are great fun are they not?

Your model actually reminds me of my original inspiration:

Anybody remember the old disney/muppet movie "the dark crystal" (awesome)? in it there was this big mechanical planetary system simulator thingy. I have always loved mechanical systems with huge gears and levers like that. There was also a lesser example in a lesser movie: Tomb Raider (awful)

How do you make one of those flex things? I was hoping to make something which looked like a circle and moved...for instance Ursa minor.

Also, can someone tell me how to get this guy to move? I am over looking something I know

could somebody please explain to me Kevino's model Lectvays_Idea ( http://www.sodaplay.com/constructor/?getmodel=Kevino+Lectvays_Idea )?

i found it very interesting and have tried several times to duplicate it with no success.

Hi luxetvox. There is a brief description of the flex structure on my website, but it might not be thorough enough for sone. Do you know how to make zip-springs yet? Most flex structures are made by constructing a chain of zipsprings, and then connected every mass in the chain with the masses that are two away from it. It's easier to do than it is to explain. If you've made tension springs, then it is basically a bunch of overlapping tension springs. warptera is one of our resident experts on the flex structure!

The main problem with that model is that you've timed all the legs against each other. With dainty-style legs, the direction of the timing has to be the same for both sides of the model. Look at yours and I think you'll see what I mean. This would be a difficult model to get to work, anyway, I think, because the structure is a little strange and the legs are a bit uneven.

Hi iamthehipo. I did not make this model, but since my name's in it I suppose I have some right to try to explain it.

Kevino made this model based on a model of mine.. unfortunately, he submitted this one to the zoo before I submitted my original. Hopefully, tommorow in the zoo will be my "AccordianStyle," which is the original. Until then, you can view the model in my pub.

I think AccordianStyle is simpler than Kevino's and would be easier to remake. Basically, these models use an accordian structure that is made with interlocking tension springs. The basic motion of the legs is achieved by timing the crossed tension springs half out of phase with each other (just like the daintywalker's timing). This is the only programming I used on my model. Kevino also programmed the "brace" spring.

Both Kevino's and mine use different configurations of uneven tension springs. Kevino uses this a lot more and that's the main reason why I think it's harder to recreate. But it's very cool. People, play around with this accordian structure; it's very fun.

thank you very much lectvay. i currently am trying to rebuild some of my favorite models in hopes that i'll be inspired to make something original for once. *_* but that one i wasn't quite getting. i hate zip-springs.

Thank you for explaining, Lectvay.

For the model however, I used a grid to make it symmetrical. I understand the leg thing, but I don't get how they can be off.
