tommmy,

No offense, but those posts are incomprehensible and it is distracting when you quote a paragraph from someone else, and then only add a single line yourself. Also please refrain from posting 6 times in a row like you did on the timetrial thread.

Did you read the very first post in this thread about being constructive, asking intelligent questions, and offering help when you are certain you know what you're talking about and can help someone?

please be less "spammy".

thanks in advance.

my best :),

send it to "display@sodaplay.com".

ed picks through the day's best submissions ans puts them in the zoo, usually in the mornings.

Hey, fellas? I think that this all-encompassing help thread has a few problems.

It was a good idea, but people's posts are getting lost or overlooked because they are all stacked on top of each other.

Maybe we could ask Ed to subdivide the model-maker forum into some organized areas. You know, one area for discussions on how particular models, phenomenon, and soda-physics work, one area for sharing and getting input on individual models, and one area for newbies and the generally confused to go for help and advice. Perhaps even a social area for all the spammers, talkative people, and random posters.

This way everything that goes on here can go on without getting in anything else's way.

Does anyone else agree with me that the sodaforum needs a little subdivision?

I think it's working ok so far... maybe I haven't been following extremely closely, but whose questions have been ignored thus far?

Well, one of mine and one of Ataensic's. And this is just now, when the post is new and people are paying attention. What happens when this thread gets forever long, or those who could help lose interest enough to search through myriads of posts to find the unanswered ones?

Maybe I'm paranoid or something, but I can see where this may not work well in the future.

Besides all of this, I still think that a little suborganization wouldn't hurt.

RR,

lectvay and I are not soda employees. it is not our job to answer questions.

If one doesn't get answered it is because we don't likely have an answer. If I don't know something, I just let it sit with the hope that someone will come along who does.

people please keep in mind that lectvay and I (among many others) learned all this stuff by ourselves. No one instructed us This knowledge is out there and you can find it on your own like we did. If you get stuck, we are happy to share what we've learned.

but we can't do everything and we certainly can't make you a superb constructor by walking you through everything. but we do our best.

I never asked for you to hold my hand, niether do I intend to lean on you every step of the way #>_< -_-'

As I take it, you suggested this special post as a way to help keep the boards clean and organized, and still be able to help people. My suggestion just takes that a step further. You seem to be quite the advocate of keeping these boards in order, after all. I'm not asking you to be a teacher. I'm asking what you think of my proposal.

I think you are suggesting a systematic solution to a purely social problem.

The second part of my post wasn't addressed to you RR, it was aimed at "people". Hundreds of people read these boards without making their presence known. When I post I try to keep this in mind. Even when you're having a one-on-one conversation, it helps to make it fit for public consumption.

This thread is approxiamately 1-2 days old. I think SirDougie's idea has worked pretty good so far. It will never prevent all spam. If someone is so clueless that they go to a board and post like this 50 times:

"HI!!!!!!!!!!4!!!!!! I amsd efk new. my models roxor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

then nothing will ever stop them.

SpideyLegs,

PS- Here is an alternate program that makes it walk more attractively:

http://sodaplay.com/constructor/player.htm?&getmodel=example+SpideyLegs2

which do you like better?

Spidy, I don't think that muscle timing is the reason the model doesn't walk. It's because there is no circular motion in the way the legs move. Try making the long springs extend and contract just out of sync with the ones pulling them backand forth, like this:

http://sodaplay.com/constructor/player.htm?&getmodel=Riddlen_Rhyme+Spidywalker
