Is there any way this model could move faster (i.e. have a longer stride)? It works fine... I guess, but it only moves a few pixels each step.

Thanks for any help.

Sorry to double post, but i have two other versions that work a little bit better, but still don't get the desired effect.

when a t rest, the legs should bow out a little from the body. compare this version's rest state with your versions':

http://sodaplay.com/constructor/player.htm?&getmodel=example+spartan2

all I did was increase the distance between the mid point of the long tension spring and the frame. If you increase the supports eminating from your central point on the frame, it would have the same effect.

best,

w

ps- for a while I thought we might go a whole day without a post!

oh yeah,

that's a real nice design btw. it shows a real solid understanding of leg timing (among other things)

Thanks a lot warp, it works beautifully now.

I'd also like to thank you for the motor, i found it in your "motors" account. Hopefully I can find uses for the different motors and try to make some of them.

Clonetrooper,

it's a lot like Kevino's "TriangleQ" or my "BlueCube_KevinoStyle". the main difference is that your flex ring is not programmed.

as for a 'model type', I think this just a complicated kind of amoeba.

hi, i was wondering if anyone could tell me if this model is original. I was messing around with some 3 pt linear motors and came up with it. Thanks

Thanks.

I made it much better by pushing all the muscle bars over.

kevilknc,

When I was messing around with flex-chains I came up with a model that looks a bit like yours...

Congratulations, very nice model :)

Hello!

I couldn't think of a better place to put this, and i was rather reluctant to start a new thread when there are already so many new ones by newbies, but my little stepsister aka thegreatmunchkin just got her own account today! yay! *__*

just in case anyone wanted to know about the presence of yet another new person in our midst...

very happy mood here.

Is there any way i can make this walker's legs move paralell(sp) and still use the same basic design?

http://sodaplay.com/constructor/player.htm?&getmodel=Clonetrooper+8legsstart

ps. Thanks for the motor warptera

the problem is that you have each leg connected to only one point on the motor. first of all, you aren't getting any rotary motion--it's just swishing back and forth. second, the two opposite sets of legs are working against each other. when I have time I'll see if i can illustrate this.
