Go inside, collect the gold, and head back out. Without dying.
Reaching the gold counts as a checkpoint.
If you are skilled enough to reach the G at the top of the stage, scroll the screen up as far as it can, then change the G until it matches the "bar" on the screen.
There's a secret stash (that might contain something (or someone)) located halfway through. It seems impossible at first to reach (unless you cheat), but reaching the G at the top should allow for higher jumps, thus it can be reached.
The two guys below the gold are the bosses, Krom and Revar. Touching them results in death.
Story: You just made it across the pits and reached a castle. Looking for some gold, you head in...
