Spartan,
Nice models as always. Just to let you know, when I started I had seen your models and hoped to reach your level of skill. You're still my fav. out of the "newbies". I think I am almost to your level of skill. :)

PS. Like my new sig.

Shamelessly show off my models, eh? Alrighty!

http://sodaplay.com/constructor/player.htm?&getmodel=Masterko+Armkreuz
This one makes a very good impression of a spider, hence the name. (It's in German)

http://sodaplay.com/constructor/player.htm?&getmodel=Masterko+Skipperoo
This one was a failed attempt at a rolling model, but it turned out for the better.

http://sodaplay.com/constructor/player.htm?&getmodel=Masterko+Thingamajig
This one I'm not too sure why I made it.

http://sodaplay.com/constructor/player.htm?&getmodel=Masterko+ummm
Not too sure on this one either.

http://sodaplay.com/constructor/player.htm?&getmodel=Masterko+Graceful
Now THIS one was slightly inspired by spartan's Hyde model. I am very proud of this one since I sent it in the wee hours of the morning one day and it managed to get into the zoo minutes after it was sent.

Ok, that's about it.

Masterko: I guess great minds think alike, at least in coming up with names. This was my favorite model back in the day when I was learning to use motors effectively. Yours looks more like a spider though:

RAD, ALMOST at my level.... ALMOST. ;)

Everyone's favorite "newbie"

Wait wait wait... Me? Newbie? Naw. :)

gimme some feedback (and you dont have to tell me i re-used the legs from my physics and amplifly models too many times.... i just think they are cool so i messed around wiht them)

Hey rod,

excellent models. I think 'amplify' has a great look to it. Also 'hingEDbipED' is cool, it reminds me of how a crane walks in shallow water.

All those models are certainly zoo worthy. the only reason some might not get in is because of their similarities to others in that group. It has happened to me a few times when I've submitted models that were closely related variations of each other.

Ed always seems to pick the best ones to show though, so it works out for the best.

I think its not fair to judge people on how close they come to warp and lectvay.

1:it may not be there style

2:they probably dont want to copy them.
and
3:of you make models any more complex than warps and lectvay's your computer will explode!

yo dude its not cool to gudje the ant by the size of the spider.

i personally think that spartan is a real master in the art of perfect constructing and slow but original movement, his style is totally different than any other constructor...

its the same with lonelyswedish and Kevino, both are some of the best constructors around, but to say that one of them is better willl depend purely on taste

thanks for the compliments warp... i think amplify or linearphysics is my fav from them.... and hingEDbipED is my fav biped of them all... so if any get in the zoo i hope it will be them...
but eve if non of them do ill know ive been recognized for them anyway

no i really dont have an idea how to make this go faster, maybe you can put some muscles in the triangles wich attach the legz to the mechanism....but i think u should better make some new leggs, cause the lifting mechanism is quite cool, but u also need the legs to puch against the ground..:D

It seems that when one of the pairs of legs hits the ground, one leg is pushing in one direction while the other is pushing in the other. The difference is just big enough to allow movement.

RAD,

Tuning is a small issue, friction could be a little lower.

But the main cause is the stride pattern that the model produces. Take a look at this:

http://sodaplay.com/constructor/player.htm?&getmodel=example+RAD_5

See how the ellipse the legs make is quite high but doesn't allow for much forward movement? I would try some programming tricks like moving the muscles that actuate each individual leg closer together on the wave pallet, or maybe increasing wave amplitude a bit.

If the model still doesn't walk to your satisfaction, try changing the struture a bit.
