I've believe I said there may be different types of races, but I've always pointed out the impractibility of applying categories such as walker/ameoba to models because a) it would require human intervention to vet race entrants and recognise the categories and b) it is far from clear how you could prescribe to an AI to only develop models of a particular type [remember that most AI's may produce many thousands of test models to incrementally refine their designs, so requiring a human to say for each entrant yep, that's a walker or that's an ameoba is not practicle].
What should happen is that different types of races simply invite different sorts of optimal solutions, so if categories emerge the do so naturally in response to the race environment.
