Releasnotes:

-Call webstart does no longer get stuck on win98.
-Call of webstart is configurable by setting properties in the properties file.
-Integrated the EasySodaRacer. It allows to run races without calling the original sodaracer.
-Timout optimization. The timeoutvalue is set to the number of the frames of the fastest model of the previous generation.
-Batch runner is working
-All properties moved to one file. (wodka.properties)
-PropertiesManager allows definition of default properties and automatic creation in the properties file.
-Batch runner can be configured with properties.

I need help. I've downloaded it, but when I try to open a .bat file, the window flashes up on screen, then disappears. :-/

It is OK that the window flashes as the javaw command is used in the .bat file.
Probably you have not set the JAVA_HOME environment variable.
Try one of the following.
- Set JAVA_HOME pointing to your java runtime.
- Remove the %JAVA_HOME% in the .bat files. Then wodka will work if you have java in your search path.
- Exchange javaw with java in the .bat file. This will produce a reasonable error message. Post it here and I will give you further adwise.

You get this message if wodka cannot find your installation of java webstart. Perhaps you did not install it on the default location.
Starting the racer with the wodka button is only for convenience. Wodka does not care how you started the racer. It expects only one racer started somehow.

I recommend using the new stand alone wodka version (v0.22). There you do not have to start the racer at all. Wodka starts one inside its own virtual machine.

I had the same problem with the window flashing up and nothing happening. I don't know how to set JAVA_HOME to point to java runtime, so I tried the next two suggestions.

When I remove %JAVA_HOME% in the .bat files the window still just flashes up for an instant and disappears.

Also, I changed javaw to java, also with no effect. It did not produce an error message, just the same brief flash of a window.

Any help is appreciated.

Try the following.
- Click Start>run... .A command window opens.
- Type java -version.
What happens then ??

That indicates that you do not have the java runtime installed properly.
I recommend to uninstall and reinstall the java runtime.
