Chirag »» models »» homepage Re: GA for Everyone!   posted: 15-Feb-04 19:35   »»  Ok first close the sodarace app and the constructor if they are open. Then start the sodarace app anew. Then start my application by double clicking "run.bat". If you start the application without the race app running everything will appear disabled untill you get the race app running as well. load in your model by typing in the full file name or use the browse button. Select the variables you want to optimise by checking or unchecking the boxes. Press the "start GA" button. Go to the race app and press the "accept all" button. You should see the models on the screen. Leave it running for awhile. The fastest variation of your model is saved as "fastest.xml" in the same directory that you are running the application from. So if your running it from your desktop. You'll see the file "fastest.xml" appear there. The program will close if there is a problem with the XML file that you load in, or if it loses its connection to the race app. by the way when you start running the GA the window with the options will close but a terminal window should remain open. The application is still running. This should be evident by the models being shown in the race app. You can check the current fastest time on the terminal window. I might add a GUI for when the GA is running, but it wont make a difference to the actual optimisation. Let me know how well the GA performs by posting before and after times. CHeers.
