Help! I have Wodka and all my finishing models are flyers. Is this normal? Do I have to give it some type of anti-flyer terrain? Can I give it some type of anti-flyer terrain??? AAARRGH!!! Oh yeah, If you're wondering why I'm so mad, its because I can't post races and my stupid computer has forced me to type this for the third time now. Help again! I try to post a race from a file in XML format, but it says that its not in XML format!?!! HOW? WHY? WHAT??? Sorry about all the rage.

make your files have .xml extensions. So don't save it as myrace, save it as myrace.xml

It worked this time! I have tried doing that before but it didn't work. I don't know why. Anyway, here is my 91st generation:

Hi. This is a really interesting thread. I haven't tried to construct any of my own terrains at all, but can you add your own ceiling to them? It seems like some kind of ground with a very low, craggy ceilings to get caught on would catch a lot of floppers and fliers, and you could punish them for airtime by running them through this terrain.

Can you make this kind of terrain?

You could easily put a vertical wall hanging above the ground so fliers would bang into it. Going further, you could build sort of a lobster-trap in the air, so fliers could enter easily but would have a hard time escaping.

By the way - can anyone think of a way you could assign a value to the "consistency" of a model (i.e. how self-similar it is after each wave period)? Putting emphasis on that as well as on speed could produce really interesting results...

Questions for the masters in this thread:

Is it possible, in Wodka, to set min/max mass values? Also, is it possible to set init velocity values through it? And are any of you guys using your own custom ones?

While creating a new GA you will have to select and config a genotype (Assembler or Turtle). There you will find a page where you can set constrants for almost all soda globals.

I have created some interesting models with wodka. For the first 1000-2000 generations, one of my runs produced strange lumps of spastic muscle, such as the 3rd race.

Then, for about 1000 generations, the dominant models were odd things with triangular fins, like the 1st and 2nd races.

Then, the dominant models became little jumping balls of muscles, such as the last two races.

After that, something odd happened that I have not seen before. The models were getting slower, to the point where most of them did not finish. I ran it for 5000 generations after that, but nothing changed much at all.

sounds like you found a bug in wodka. What does the logfile say for the time the models started getting slower?
