attributes in xml   posted: 03-Nov-03 15:53   »»
Im just trying to build my first models from self generated xml's. But I do not know the meanings of the following attributes:
model/collision[surface_friction]
model/collision[surface_reflaction]
model/links/spring[restlength]
Some explainations could be helpful.
The other attributes and tags seem to be familliar from sodaconstructor.
I also do not understand what the container tag means in the model definition. Width and hight are for me attributes of the simulater rather than of the model. How can they influence the model in a race?
Thanks for help in adv. AG WW

Hi wwan,

good to hear from you. The model/links/spring/restlength is the "desired" length that a spring will try to return to when stretched.

The two friction coefficients are factors to the components of a masses velocity that are perpendicular and parallel to a surface. When in "sticky" mode, the coefficient of friction parallel to a surface higher than that perpendicular to it, so models can get better "grip" on a surface.

the container tag specifies the size of the stage in constructor, but is ingnored by the race application.

Thanks for your answers. It is about what I was guessing.
Another question. What is vx and vy in masses?
Thanks for answer.
PS wodka is close to breed soda models. Marshalling and unmarshalling of wodka models does alreay work. The integration of the sodarace api is not yet finished but will be soon.

They're the initial direction that the mass is moving in the x and y direction

The initial velocities in the x and y directions, I think.
